ROSSLYN CHAPEL RESTORATION SPIDER CRANE OPENS TO PUBLIC
GGR Group, the UK’s number one for lifting solutions, is demonstrating its pioneering mini spider crane range at their open day, this Friday 1st October at the Blantyre depot.
In collaboration with MacWilliam Demolition, GGR Group earned its place in history earlier this year by helping to restore the famous 560-year-old Rosslyn Chapel in Midlothian. A large metal canopy had hidden most of the exterior view of the famous chapel for thirteen years.
GGR’s pioneering mini cranes helped to carefully remove tens of tones of steel from the historic chapel made famous by the novel and blockbuster film, The Da Vinci Code. These innovative pieces of equipment will be displayed at GGR’s open day in Blantyre this Friday.
UNIC Cranes was called upon because of the problem of restricted access in the grounds of the chapel. The grave stones and trees made it necessary to utilize the unique capabilities of the UNIC URW-706 mini crane, which was able to manoeuvre around the tight spaces of the grounds, yet had sufficient reach to clear the height of the roof.
Following the success of this year’s open days at both northern and southern depots GGR is expecting hundreds of visitors eager to take a look at their ground-breaking lifting solutions.
The full range of GGR’s lifting equipment will be on display including the new GGR Cladding range.
The team will be on hand to give expert advice on current and future project and training requirements. Refreshments will be provided all day Friday 1st October starting with bacon sandwiches at 9.30am followed by a lunch time menu.
