AIN’T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH FOR UNIC CRANES EUROPE
UNIC Cranes Europe, Europe’s leading supplier of mini spider cranes, took on a mountainous challenge in Switzerland recently. Swiss telecommunications company, Swisscom, hired a UNIC Cranes Europe URW-706, to dismantle antennae atop Mount Jungfraujoch.
The mountain, South of Interlaken, Switzerland, is 3697 metres high meaning the crane had to be dismantled, sent up the mountain by helicopter and reassembled on site. The URW-706 will remain up Mount Jungfraujoch for three to four months, after which the crane will have to be disassembled once more and taken back down the mountain by helicopter.
Graeme Riley, CEO of UNIC Cranes Europe, commented: “This is exactly the sort of job that UNIC’s mini spider cranes are perfect for. UNIC Cranes Europe has carved itself a niche operating in such near impossible circumstances. Often people don’t realise the capabilities and true flexibility of UNIC mini spider cranes. You’d be hard pushed to find a job we won’t attempt!”
